While self-esteem is recognized as an important factor for academic achievement, its specific impact on pupils with intellectual disabilities remains underexplored. This study examined self-esteem as correlate of academic performance of pupils with intellectual disabilities in some schools in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select 22 pupils with intellectual disabilities in schools. Instrument for Data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Self-Esteem and Academic Performance of Pupils with Intellectual Disabilities (SEAPPID). Academic performance data were obtained from cumulative English language results. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). Findings indicated that pupils with higher self-esteem performed better academically and were more engaged in their studies. Furthermore, while girls showed slightly better emotional control and focus, gender differences in academic performance were minimal. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers adopt strategies that actively promote self-esteem in both male and female pupils with intellectual disabilities. Parents should be encouraged to play a more active role in supporting their children’s self-esteem and academic growth by collaborating with teachers to strengthen learning outcomes. Promoting self-esteem is essential for improving academic performance and fostering resilience in pupils with intellectual disabilities.
Beth Nnenne Oluka Awoke Augustina Nnenna Uloh-Bethels Annah Chinyeaka Chia Terkula Joseph Ezeanwu Amaka Bibian Nome Ujebe Amos Precious Chidimma Amaechi Nancy Nkechi John Michael Nwankwo Veronica Nkechi Imakwu Christian Okechukwu Aleke Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Educational Research & Social Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-04-30 2025-04-30 6 2 131 137 10.51601/ijersc.v6i2.968 Critical Review of the Implementation of Restorative Justice for Victims of Sexual Violence Crimes: A Legal Positivism Perspective of Hart https://ijersc.org/index.php/go/article/view/964
Sexual violence is a global issue that has increasingly garnered attention, with various evolving definitions, including the explanation by the World Health Organization (WHO) which states that sexual violence involves actions to obtain unwanted sexual behaviour, carried out through coercion or without the consent of the victim. In Indonesia, sexual violence was previously regulated in the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP), but with the development of time, Law No. 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS) was introduced to provide more protection for victims and more robust law enforcement. Furthermore, the application of restorative justice principles in handling Sexual Violence Crimes has begun to be considered, although this principle was initially focused on minor criminal acts. Restorative justice aims to restore relationships between the victim, offender, and society, but its application in sexual violence cases presents various challenges, including the potential to reduce the accountability of offenders and the risk of re-victimisation of the victims. This research employs a normative legal approach with analysis of the applicable regulations and the concept of H.L.A. Hart's legal positivism, which emphasises the importance of systematic law enforcement while still allowing space for flexibility, particularly in the application of restorative principles. Based on the analysis, the application of restorative justice in sexual violence cases in Indonesia needs to be carried out with great caution to ensure the protection of victims' rights and the accountability of offenders, without neglecting the importance of firm and effective law enforcement.
Nur Alifah Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Educational Research & Social Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-04-29 2025-04-29 6 2 138 145 10.51601/ijersc.v6i2.964 Relevance Of Using The Edge Component In Teaching Biology https://ijersc.org/index.php/go/article/view/963
This article discusses the importance and relevance of using edge components in biology education. During the educational process, students will be given a diagnostic survey to get acquainted with the rare plants of their region and determine the level of knowledge of the regional material by students of the Sarsen Amanzholov Higher College. The local history work contains data reflecting the natural, economic, social and cultural interrelation of the region under study. In addition, the most effective way of rational consideration of regional components in unity is to consider the scientific worldview of students, a holistic image of the environment, scientifically based environmental and socio-cultural attitudes, and a system of value-oriented relations.
Ramazanova M. Overall, these strategies are designed for adaptation to the challenges of the global era and to produce competitive graduates.
Dewi Agus Triani Mujamil Qomar Nur Efendi Mochamad Hermanto Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Educational Research & Social Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-04-29 2025-04-29 6 2 159 166 10.51601/ijersc.v6i2.955 Legal Effects Of Making A Testament On The Inheritance Rights Of Members Of The Society Of Jesus (Pastors) Who Resign According To The Civil Code (Study In The Provincial State Of The Society Of Jesus Semarang) https://ijersc.org/index.php/go/article/view/891
This thesis examines and analyzes the legal consequences of making a testament and the mechanisms for resolving inheritance rights of members of the Society of Jesus (priests) who have made a testament and later resigned, according to the Indonesian Civil Code ( KUHPerdata ). The study was conducted at the Provincial House of the Society of Jesus in Semarang. The research method used is empirical legal research, employing interviews and literature review approaches. The results of the research show that, according to the Indonesian Civil Code, the legal consequence for a former priest who has made a testament and then resigned is that he remains bound by the testament he previously made. The Society of Jesus community or the Aloysius Association retains its position as the testamentary heir of the former priest, based on the legal grounds of Article 954 of the Civil Code. According to Articles 913–914 of the Civil Code, a testament that has not been revoked can affect the portion of inheritance and determine the subject entitled to the inheritance of the former priest. As a result, it may reduce the legitimate share (legitime share ) of the former priest's family members, including biological children (if married) or biological parents as legataris (recipients of the legitimate portion). For former priests who were leaders of a foundation or institution managed by the Society of Jesus, whose names were used for purposes such as purchasing land under ownership rights, opening bank accounts, or receiving donations, a process of name transfer (re-registration) can be carried out.
Benedikta Alma Aditya Permana Yudho Taruno Muryanto Dona Budi Kharisma Copyright (c) 2025 International Journal of Educational Research & Social Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2025-04-30 2025-04-30 6 2 167 178 10.51601/ijersc.v6i2.891 Prevalence of Unintended Pregnancy among Female Adolescents in Anambra State: Its Risk and Protective Factors https://ijersc.org/index.php/go/article/view/961
Pregnancy is usually a God blessings and welcome development when it occurs at the appropriate time during wedlock and among couples in marriage. The analysis of data was done using mean (x) and standard deviation to answer the research questions, and t-test statistics to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The results shows that the prevalence of unintended pregnancy was 12.0%. Poverty level (3.70), Pressure from peers to have sex” (3.60), Poor parental supervision (2.09) were the risk factors.
