Abstract
This study examined changes in women’s basic pattern-making skills after problem-based learning among 19 Grade XI Fashion students at SMK Pangeran Antasari. A quantitative pre-experimental approach employed a one-group pretest–posttest design with total sampling. Performance tasks assessed bodice and sleeve patterns at a 1:4 scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and normalized gain. Mean scores increased from 76.79 to 86.71. The differences were not normally distributed (p = .001), and the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant difference (Z = −3.830; p < .001). All students improved. Mean normalized gain was 0.40577, indicating moderate improvement; 15 students showed moderate and four low gains. Problem-based learning was followed by improved skills in this group, although the absence of a control group prevents isolation of its causal effect.
